„Youth in Route: Routes for fostering sense of initiative and active citizenship among disaffilliated youth“ is Erasmus+ strategic partnership project, addressing youth disaffiliation through a contemporary approach grounded in Robert Castel’s sociological theory. It empowers youth workers and young people with innovative tools, participation, and cross-sector collaboration.

The objective of this project is to tackle the root causes of youth disaffiliation by strengthening the capacities of youth workers and empowering young people to become active and engaged citizens. The project promotes a positive image of youth and advocates for a transversal, qualitative approach to influence policies and foster strong cross-sector partnerships.

Key activites of the project include a participatory approach to implement EU capacity-building for youth workers from Belgium, Portugal, France and Serbia; youth-led storytelling circles that empower disaffiliated youth to share their experiences; awareness campaigns challenging stereotypes about disaffiliated youth; cross-sector policy dialogues bridging gaps between youth, practitioners, and decision-makers; and a virtual network fostering collaboration.

Key project`s results relate comprehensive three-level training programme for youth workers that covers theoretical foundations, practical challenges, and applicable methodologies, along with a youth-led digital incubator platform providing resources for personal growth, career opportunities, and civic engagement, as well as interactive policy journey maps illustrating concrete pathways from challenges to solutions. All these results will contribute to long-term systemic change in how disaffiliated youth are supported.
